This film industry veteran and senior graphic designer met while walking their dogs in their beautiful community. After chatting about movies, the latest pop culture news, and video games, they discovered a shared interest in coffee. Zach had been roasting coffee at home and Nikki had been exploring the world of specialty coffee when they decided to team up and create their own coffee company centered around community, education, and shared experiences. 

When thinking of a name, they were drawn to what brought them together in the first place - their pups! The small, tan terrier mix named Duke and the happy-go-lucky black lab mix named Hoku serve as the inspiration for the name DOKU.

These neighbors-turned-business partners bonded over their love of coffee. With Zach's roasting skills and Nikki's eye for design, they decided it was time to share their passion with everyone else!
